Do you read the classics and do they live up to their reputation as literary giants?

I've read a lot of books that are considered classics, but there's also still a lot more that I haven't read. I'm working on making my way through the ones I haven't, though. As far as whether or not they live up to their reputation, that really depends on the book (and on the reader's personal taste, as well). It's just like modern day fiction, really. Some classics that I've read have been the kind of amazing books that you never forget, that really touch your life. Others have been complete drivel that's left me wondering how in the world they ever got to be so revered.
