Does a movie count as a literature?

While many films are based upon works of literature, such as "The Grapes of Wrath," or even "The Wizard of Oz," they do not count as literature themselves. Reading written work is an entirely different experience from viewing a film, no matter how good/accurate to the novel it may be! :)
