What's the literary period and country of Uncle Tom's Cabin?

I believe that Uncle Tom's Cabin was written during the Romantic Period of the early- to mid-1800s, though I don't really know if it's usually considered a Romantic novel. It was written in America by Harriet Beecher Stowe, a teacher and abolitionist from Connecticut.
